well it seems we are unable to go more than a month without some sort of project. first it was restoring the wood floor in the hallway, then painting our stairs. currently, we have decided to spiff up our hall bathroom a bit.
this is actually the bathroom that flooded multiple times this past winter when our whole drainage system decided to reposition itself inside the house rather than under the ground outside where we would prefer it stay. we couldn't use our anything that caused water to flow in our household...yeah, that means showers and toilets and washers and dishwashers...not fun! lucky for us we have a good friend on base who allowed us to cleanse our stinky selves as well as our mountain of dirty clothes.
a lovely view of the flooding and greywater...yummy
all that to say, it has been sitting unused since then, and hasn't really been an issue since we use the bathroom in our room. however, with a baby coming [[who i think would prefer a bathtub to a shower]] as well as for the comfort of our guests [[i think they are getting tired of sneaking past my sleeping husband to use our potty]] we are finally fixing it up! i am excited to have a clean and lovely bathroom and am looking forward to seeing our baby splish splashing around in our clean and sparkly tub soon!
mark is moving the bugboards and cutting out the pipes! YAY!
this is a pretty big project since our 1940's house still contains old pipe heating with nasty metal that looks similar to baseboard heaters covering it on almost every wall in our house! this system has long since been replaced with a heat pump and a lovely air conditioning unit that is my best friend! :D right now these baseboards [[aka the "bugboards" in the dickinson household]] annoy the heck out of me and provide ample space for spiders, roaches, and who knows what other creatures to hide behind!
away with the bugboards! eww, look at the dirt behind them!!
as usual, this project is probably going to take longer & be far more expensive than we planned. here's hoping it will get done before christmas!
